Ian has over 25 years experience in rural, regional and environmental planning and development in the public and NGO sectors. Most recently he has led rural economic policy at Defra, the UK’s environment, rural and agricultural ministry, and head of rural policy in regional development agency, Advantage West Midlands.
Since 2008, Ian has worked as an advisor in accession candidate countries on agriculture, rural development and energy requirements of EU accession, training and mentoring civil servants and field practitioners and supporting the development of agriculture and RD ministries. Ian also trains internationally through the Royal Institute for Public Administration. Ian coordinates the work of Catalys, as well as delivering training and organisational development. Ian is the Founder and owner of Catalys.
